First Congregational Church of Minnesota
Between May and July 2016, I will serve as a Ministry Fellow at First Church, a UCC congregation in Minneapolis. Each year, Davidson College selects five rising seniors to be Ministry Fellows. Fellows are placed in congregation-based summer internships of their choice, with the intention that they receive broad exposure to the practice of leadership and service in a local church, synagogue, or other house of worship under the mentorship of a seasoned member of the clergy. As a Ministry Fellow, my duties will include helping to plan and lead Sunday worship, as well as a week-long summer camp for youth and a 4-5 week community engagement project.
Office of Multicultural Affairs
Since September 2014 I have worked as a Student Assistant with Davidson’s Office of Multicultural Affairs, working primarily in the Multicultural House (MCH). The MCH serves as a space where students of all backgrounds may meet and engage in various learning opportunities presented by faculty, staff and student groups. As a staff member I assist with bookings, answer questions, and ensure the space is clean and prepared for events. I also serve as the Multicultural Affairs Liaison to the Student Initiative for Academic Diversity (SIAD).
UMC Outreach & Engagement
Between May and August 2016, I worked as a Davidson-Stapleton Intern with the Outreach & Engagement Team at the Urban Ministry Center to provide essential services and pathways for housing to Charlotte’s chronically homeless population. Each year Davidson selects five students to undertake this ten‑week intership, which integrates urban service work, reflection on social justice, and Christian spirituality.
